At
6'6" and 720 pounds, Yokozuna was a GIANT of Pro Wrestling. This pure Samoan
athlete was trained by his Uncles Afa and Sika in the early 1980s. From the
get-go, Yokozuna was a hot commodity doing tours in Mexico and eventually in
Japan (known then as Kokina Maximus) where he teamed up with cousin Samu to
win numerous titles. From 1992 to 1996 this giant destroyed all comers as he
easily beat all of the top tier WWE stars holding 2 WWE World Heavyweight
Titles (beat Hulk Hogan and Bret Hart for them) and 2 WWE World Tag Team
Titles (with the late, great Owen Hart). From there, Yoko decided he had his
fill of the WWE and it was time to move on to other areas. He moved to Las
Vegas and spent more time with his children.
He
traveled worldwide on
independent wrestling tours until his untimely death in England on October 23,
2000.
